Q: How to apply for a visit returning home visiting families members?

A: In accordance with Article 28 of the Prison Act and Article 23 of the Detention Act, the conditions of returning home for visit are as follows:

  1. In the event of the death of an inmate’s grandparent, parent, parent of spouse, spouse, child, or sibling, the inmate may, with approval from senior prison officials, go home for a visit under escort and then return to the prison within 24 hours. The duration of the visit will be counted as time served.
  2. The provisions of the preceding paragraph shall apply mutatis mutandis to an inmate who needs to go home for a visit due to a major or extraordinary incident. In such a case, the visit shall be reported to the supervisory authority and approved.

The required documents for applying for returning back home for visit (funeral):

  • One copy of Guarantee Certificate from Family Members (with one front and back photo copy of the guarantor’s identification card).
  • One original copies of Death Certificate.
  • One original copies of residence booklet which is sufficient to prove the relationship between the inmate and the deceased (if the permanent addresses are different, please attach each separately).
  • One copy of the obituary.
  • Please submit the application two days before the funeral during the office hours with the aforementioned material for application review.

The required document for applying for returning back home for a visit (the major or extraordinary incident):

  • One copy of Guarantee Certificate from Family Members (with one front and back photo copy of the guarantor’s identification card).
  • One original copy of the notice that the patient is in a critical condition.
  • One original copies of the residence booklet which is sufficient to prove the relationship between the inmate and the patient (if the permanent addresses are different, please attach each separately).
  • Please submit the application during the office hours with the aforementioned material for application review.

Q: How do family members of inmates register for walking around inspection tour ?

A: The family walking around tour is held at 10:00 am on the fourth Tuesday of every month. For those who are interested, please register at the reception room or sign up online.

Q: How to apply for the imprisonment Certificate ?

A: The inmates have to apply for the imprisonment certificate by themselves.Please notify the inmates to apply for it during a visit.

Q: How to apply for the imprisonment release Certificate ?

A: If the inmates are going to apply by themselves , please bring identification documents. If the family members are going to apply, please bring the documents sufficient to prove the relationship with the inmates and the identification cards of the applicants.
