Taipei Detention center is not only a place where defendants of criminal case that are arrested in Taipei City and New Taipei City, but accommodate those who are in other cities like Keelung, Yilan, Shilin, Taoyuan and Hsinchu. The main responsibility of Taipei Detention Center is to prevent defendants from absconding, annihilating any evidences, making collusion and make investigations proceed smoothly. Furthermore, since the "Drug Prevention and Control Act " was announced in May 1998, the Rehab Institution was set up in Taipei Detention Center, aiming at people under observation and people receiving detoxification treatment, offering the greatest help.

Taipei Detention Center: Admitting the defendants of criminal case from Taiwan Taipei, New Taipei, Yilan, Shilin, Taoyuan and Hsinchu District Court.

Rehab Institution: Admitting people under observation and people receiving detoxification treatment.

Gangster Detaining House: Admitting gangsters that are judicially declared.

The branch of Taiwan Taipei Prison: Executing the prison term (within 3 years) of inmates that are adjudicated by New Taipei District Prosecutors Office.

The maximum number of inmates detained is within 1,000.
